PLAYS LIKE YARDAGES

‘Plays Like’ Yardages takes a slightly different approach where the Plays Like distance of the shot is calculated and displayed alongside your own yardages for each club.

You can also add elements to the calculations such as the lie, whether the ball is on a slope and the target elevation.

How to use Plays Like Yardages

  1. In your next practice round, stand over your ball & face the target.

  2. Open the ‘Plays Like Yardages’ screen on the home page.

  3. Firstly enter the distance you have to your landing area. Remember your landing area might not be the same as the distance to the pin. For example in dry hot conditions the greens may be hard therefore you would ideally want to land the ball short of the pin and let it roll up to be pin high.

  4. Next, enter additional details of the shot that you would wish to be included in the calculations.

    • Lie - Is the ball currently in the fairway, on the tee or in the rough

    • Incline - Is the ball currently on a slope either uphill, downhill, below your feet or above your feet

    • Elevation - Is your target elevated? If the green is above where the ball is lying or it is down hill to the green

  5. Your plays like distance will instantly be shown in the box below. Also, if you scroll down the screen you can see the plays like distance displayed within your weather adjusted yardages. These yardages will have been calculated taking into consideration temperature adjustments, wind speed & direction alterations and where the target is in relation to the predicted weather conditions. This will be done instantly and in real-time.

  6. Now grab the club closest to the indicated plays like distance and hit the shot. I would strongly urge you to hit what the app says, by that I mean if you would normally hit a 6 Iron and the app is saying you need a 4 Iron to go the distance you require, just go with it and make a full swing as you normally would. Don’t try and hold back in any way as you think you’ve got too much club.

  7. Assuming you hit a good shot, you will now be closer to pin high.

  8. Now you can see that the algorithm works learn how to do it with our club selection & selection process screens.
